Start

Each player is dealt two cards face down - "hole" cards. Then follows a round of betting where you can skip a move, place a bet, or fold. This stage of the game is called pre-flop and your actions depend on these cards, which are called the starting hand.

Flop

When all bets are completed, three community cards are dealt face-up in the middle of the table. This action is called a flop.

Turn

This is followed by another round of betting after which the 4th community card is opened on the table. This called the turn.

This is followed by the final round of betting and the last card called river is dealt.

River

Your best combination is created from hole cards and five community cards in the middle of the table, and consists of the best five cards. This is known as the Showdown.

Not sure what the best poker games consist of? Check the poker hand rankings.

For example, if you have 9-9, and the community cards are 9-9-A-5-2 , you have collected 4 cards of the same type or square. If the community cards are J-Q-K-7-2 , you will have a hand consisting of two nines.

Sometimes the best hand is created by five common cards in the middle of the table. If the common cards are 10-10-10-10-A and your personal cards are 9-9, your personal cards will not come into play, as high-order cards are at the table.

Ending

The hand can end with two options.

One option is that party members open their hole cards and the player with the best combination wins. This is called "disclosure of cards” or the Showdown

Another outcome of the game is when one of the players places an amount that forces everyone else to fold. Thus, in Texas Hold'em, most hands are completed, and this is the whole charm of this game; You do not need to have the best cards to win the game.

Let's briefly repeat ...

Let's enumerate the stages of the game using poker slang, and see if you can understand what is at stake.

  • First you get your pocket cards.
  • Then follows a round of betting.
  • The remaining players pass to the flop.
  • Then follows another round of betting.
  • After that, the fourth card is dealt. It is called the Turn.
  • Then follows another round of betting. After that, the final card called the river.
  • Then - another round of betting. The best combination of 5 cards wins.
